Anyone have advice on transplanting Moss??? 2 days ago I removed all the pebbles from the top and replaced it with a nice “carpet” of moss in my 6×8 in. pot containing a Canadien Hemlock (its very small). Any tips would be great!!!!!!

cutting new growth near the top of the tree will promote lateral growth. What happens is a particular hormone for lateral growth gets released when you cut along the top of the stem.

Most actually plant the moss, it doesn’t just happen by chance.

I would recommend going to a hardware store to get some small clippers. Most of the special bonsai clippers are basically the exact same thing but tend to be much, much more expensive.

Its a good idea to use the clippers that are designed for it. Small scissors may not be able to make a clean cut unless you’re doing some very minor work to the tree. A rough cut can damage the tree. That being said, you can probably go down to the hardware store and find some little clippers that will get the job done without spending too much money.
